Colorado Green News Blog

Welcome to the Colorado Green News Blog. We seek to get our readers involved with SUPPORTING our Green World through in-depth thought and by asking questions about the major Green Issues of our day. The questions asked in the blog are editorial based questions, so they can be "OPINIONS" rather than news reporting of facts. Many newspapers feel uncomfortable getting involved with this type of discussion. It is foreign territory to news organizations when they post or support blogs.

GREEN QUESTIONS of the WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!  1/10/2012

Canadian Oil Pipeline from Alberta to Houston.

TransCanada Pipeline Corp has multiple natural gas pipelines that cross from Canada into the USA. However, they have no cross-over crude oil pipeline experience transporting oil into the USA. Should we let a corporation that is new at transporting crude oil here jump into it in a big way? Alberta crude oil takes more refining than other crude oil as it is excessively thick and dirty. Is this a smart future energy direction to take?

Our US Government claims only 6,500 jobs will be created for about 2 years if the TransCanada Corporation pipeline is approved. Should we support outdated fossil fuel energy jobs? Instead we could move into the $3 Trillion dollar sustainable and renewable energy future job marketplace. China will take our place in the green energy arena if the US doesn't act soon.

Currently the USA has almost 40,000 business buildings that were built in the 1930s and 1940s. These all need to be retro-fitted for clean efficient energy use. We use almost 40% of our energy consumption in older homes and buildings across America. If the US Government got involved in the building retro-fit conversions thousands of long term jobs would be created.

Citizens should we stop padding the profits of big Oil Companies? Isn't it time to promote clean renewable energy? The White House needs to table this oil pipeline initiative. What do you think?
